SANTA FE SPRINGS, CALIF. (February 1, 2005) - Maxon is pleased to announce the launch of its FMVSS 403 compliant wheelchair lift, the WL7 Smart Lift. Introduced at the 2004 BusCon tradeshow, the well received WL7 was ready for the original December 2004 regulatory deadline. The regulations established by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) focus on platform requirements, threshold warning signals, and other safety and performance standards.
Built from the ground up to meet these new, complex federal wheelchair lift regulations, the WL7 is Maxon's latest commercial wheelchair lift model. It features advanced technology to help fleets operate at their best and keep the end user mobile. Onboard diagnostics significantly reduce downtime and enhance safety.
The exclusive Brain Box includes fault indicators for numerous safety functions, monitors voltage and current draw, and warns of improper grounding. Since the diagnostic screen is available on the Brain Box, the use of a laptop is not required to perform diagnostics. The WL7 easily lifts over 800 lbs, is universal to fit all bed heights up to 48", and features Rattle-Resistant Technology that promotes a quieter on-the-road environment. The unit is easy to install and is shipped as a complete unit.
The new regulatory deadline was extended to April 2005; however, Maxon Mobility's WL7 Smart Lift has been in production since December 2004 and customers can purchase the lift today.
